Designful Spaces case study cover: positioning, SEO strategy and website copywriting for an Adelaide kitchen and bathroom design studio

What we delivered

  1. Brand positioning statement
  2. SEO keyword research
  3. Search intent mapping
  4. Website architecture and content strategy
  5. Homepage and About page copywriting

Designful Spaces is a kitchen and bathroom design studio working across Adelaide and regional South Australia. Bourne Creative was engaged for positioning, SEO strategy and website copywriting: sharpening how the studio talks about its own work, mapping the search terms its next clients are actually typing, and rewriting the site copy to match.

Considered and intentional, not reactive

The studio was talking in features. Clients were feeling something closer to a shift from overwhelm to calm, and the two were not lining up.

“I want my work to feel considered and intentional, rather than reactive or transactional,” says Fran Huber of Designful Spaces. That line became the brief.

Kitchens and bathrooms, planned properly

The positioning is one studio, two doors. Private renovators lead. Builders sit behind as proof of process, not as an equal audience competing for the same homepage.

Search behaviour, mapped to the pages that should earn it

Keyword research surfaced three real clusters. “Kitchen and bathroom designer Adelaide”, the studio’s ownable niche term, at 40 to 80 searches a month, low competition and high intent, targeting the homepage. Adelaide Hills and Eyre Peninsula location terms, 40 to 90 searches a month, the fastest realistic path to page-one rankings. And “Do I need an interior designer for a renovation?”, 80 to 150 searches a month, the first of the evergreen guides.

These volumes are directional estimates for the Adelaide market, built from SERP inspection and category knowledge rather than a live paid tool. For a studio this size, relative priority matters more than the exact count.

The intent journey

Every stage of the search got mapped to what it should lead to. Informational searches, “kitchen renovation cost Adelaide”, lead to a guide. Commercial investigation, “residential interior designer Adelaide”, leads to About. Transactional searches, “bathroom designer Adelaide”, lead to the Design Direction Session. Navigational searches, “Fran Huber designer”, lead to Home, About and the Google Business Profile.

Lean, not bigger

The site architecture stays lean rather than expanding for its own sake. Two service pillars, Kitchen and Bathroom, sit either side of a three-tier Services page. Guides replace the retired blog. Two location pages, Adelaide Hills and Port Lincoln and the Eyre Peninsula, go after the geographies with the least competition first.

The homepage, rewritten

The live homepage hero read: “Interior Design & Lifestyle Studio. We develop functional interiors based on your lifestyle and habits, spiced up with European design influences.”

The publish-ready replacement: “A kitchen and bathroom designer for Adelaide and regional South Australia. Rooms that work as well as they look, planned properly from first sketch to final fixture.”

The same edit runs through the About page, with the bio copy rewritten from studio-speak into a clear, first-person introduction.

Outcome

A clearer voice across Home, About and Services. A lean architecture built to win the lowest-competition geographies first. A repeatable case-study template, so every future project compounds the site’s selling power instead of just adding to a gallery.

The work now is publishing it, then building out the kitchen, bathroom, guide and location pages in the order the research points to.
